WASTE MANAGEMENT AND RECYCLE

Waste management is "generation,prevention,characterization,monitoring,treatment,handling,reuse and residual disposition of solid waste".

There are various types of solid waste including municipal (residential,institutional,commercial) agriculture, and special(health care,household hazardous wastes,sewage sludge).

Recycling is a process to change waste materials into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials,reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials,reduce energy usage,reduce air pollution and water pollution.

Garbage is one of the environmental issues,every day the entire planet is accumulating tons of garbage.Some of this garbage ends up in wrong places such as canals,shorelines.

Waste management involves the segregation of waste materials-biodegradable and non-degradable.

Biodegradable wastes are organic/decaying substances that are normally used for agriculture purpose.This includes paper materials,animal wastes, and plant/animal decays.farmers normally use a method called composting where all organic wastes are put together in a container or pit and let them decompose for some time.The byproduct of composting is used as fertilizers for plants.

The non-biodegradable wastes do not decay.therefore three methods must be applied in order to dispose them.these are Reduce,Reuse and Recycle.

Reducing is the method of using  disposable materials less frequently.

Example:instead of using plastic bags supermarkets would encourage their consumers to purchase ECO-BAGS.

Reusing is the way of putting some items to use for more than once.

Example:metallic cans, and plastic containers that are brilliantly designed for people to reuse them after their contents are all consumed.

Recycling is the conversion of waste material into another usable item.Commonly recycled materials include plastic,metal,glass,and paper.recycling items greatly reduces the volume of waste that is deposited in land fills or burned in incinerator plants.

Waste incineration is one of the oldest method of dealing with unwanted domestic and industrial waste.Waste incineration is considered to be a better alternative to other types of waste disposal methods,for instances land filling.this process of waste management method is very beneficial,as it reduces the production of toxic waste and controls the waste disposal level.

How to manage home

• Use cloth bags instead of plastic
• buy food that has less packaging
• do vermicomposting
